Hello all Got Em On club members,

Here we go again with much uncertainty for our upcoming year. How will the corona virus affect us? Will we have a flounder season? Ect.. But we will take it as it comes, keep our heads up and make the best of it the same as we have the past two years now.

And with each year we have to deal with the sadness of losing ones close to us and the club. Last year Mike Britt passed away. He was a long time member of our club. Also one of our most active volunteers, Vickie Tedder Hester, passed away Jan 8th 2022. They were both very active in the CB Inlet Association as well. They will be greatly missed.

Moving forward, our first event of 2022 will be our chowder meet and greet / cook off. And just like everything else, a change has hit us of where to have this event. Since the Snows Cut Park has closed, we have explored several places and settled on River Road Park, 6500 River Road, Wilmington NC 28412. We have reserved the pavilion at the park for February 26th from 11am to 4pm. This park has done a very nice job updating with new bathrooms, landscaping, general cleanliness, and a very nice playground and swings for the kids. So bring your young ones for a family event.

This year we will try again something new with our club points tournaments. We plan on starting in May this year and will have 1 tournament each month finishing in September. I will send out another letter with all the particulars for this series. One exciting tidbit will be that you will be able to weigh in drum, trout and flounder for each tournament. It will still be a team event with each team weighing a max of two fish. Flounder weight will be determined by length when not in season.

This past year I had a couple people say they did not know about something and I found out that not everyone has email and several do not have Facebook. Facebook is the quickest and easiest way for us to communicate. I just do not have time to call 400 members. But if you are one of these and need me to call you, please let me know. You can also google Got Em On Live Bait Club, choose the Facebook link and view any postings on that group. You do not have to have a Facebook account. Please contact me if you need any help.

Going forward into 2022, your Board will be as follows: Chili is stepping down from Secretary and now taking his place as past President and we are adding a new Board Member, James Roach as Secretary. Becki will remain Treasurer, Clint Vice President and I will be President another year.

Please remember that our club is totally ran by and supported by volunteers. We can always use any that will volunteer. For the past many years Randy Downing, and Fred Kennedy, have been our weigh masters for our intra club tournaments and have gone above and beyond to make these tournaments a success. This year they will both be stepping down. Hopefully we see them on the water fishing the tournaments this year. Therefore we are looking for some new weigh masters. We would also like to have a committee to work on our end of the year banquet. It will be great to get some new ideas, so if you are willing please contact me or another Board Member.

Thanks to all, Jeff Smith 910-262-3336
