Folks, it's time  again to dust off your favorite Seafood Chowder recipe!  Our annual "Chowder Cook Off" and "Dessert Contest" is coming up on February 13^th at Snow's Cut Park on river road.  Judging starts at 1:00 pm and prizes will be awarded in both categories.

 Trophies for our annual Chart Buster winners will also be awarded at this event. Lots of club hats, shirts and stuff will be up for sale.  Everyone come on out and bring your favorite Chowder or Dessert and have a great time!  Actually, you don't have to bring anything!  A smile and a healthy apetite would be good; and pray for decent weather, 'cause we're doing it rain or shine!  I look forward to seeing you there!!!

"Flotilla Party"

 A Flotilla Party will be held on Saturday December 5th at "Freddie's Yacht Yard" (400 Block of Canal Drive). The party will start at 5:30 pm. Vic & Lisa Matthis and John Batson will be cooking a delicious meal and there will be lots of cold beverages on ice. This will be our last get together for the year and it has always been alot of fun. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

End of The Year Party

 The End of The Year Party is being held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the "Arab Shrine Club" ( 4510 S College Road). The party starts at 6:00 pm, music will be provided by "Jim Quick & The Coastline Band". We will have heavy Hors D'oeuvres instead of the Buffet Dinner. Admission is $15.00 a head. BYOB, set ups will be available.

 Several awards will be presented and voting for 2010 Board Member Positions will be taking place. Please take time to attend this special event. You will be glad you did !!

Got-Em-On Open Board Meeting

 There will be a Got-Em-On Board Meeting open to all members on November 5, 2009. The meeting will take place at the History Center (1121 N Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach) and will start at 7:00 pm.

Annual Got-Em-On Scholarship Golf Tournament

 The annual Got-Em-On Scholarship Golf Tournament has been cancelled for this year due to lack of Sponsorships. We will try to hold this event again next year.

 The following people are our top ten in flounder points tournaments for the year. There were two people tied for 7th and 8th place. The tie was determined by the largest fish per person caught in the points tournaments for the year.

5th Flounder Poitns Tournament

 Our 5th Flounder Points Tournament will be held on October 17th. Registration is on Friday, October 16th at the "Harbor Masters" (315 Canal Drive, Carolina Beach) from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Fishing will be from sunrise until 3:00 pm. Weigh-in will be at "Freddie's Yacht Yard" (400 block of Canal Drive) from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. You must be in line no later than 3:00pm. We have two people tied for the 1st place in the points for the year and several others that have a shot to be in the top ten for the year. This should prove to be a very exciting tournament with lots of nervous anglers!! Please make plans to fish or just come out to the weigh-in and give your favorite angler support. We will have food and lots of cold beverages available after the weigh-in. This is our last points tournament of the year and I would like to wish all anglers "Good Luck"!! Look forward to seeing everyone there at the weigh-in.

 We had a total of 63 entries with 26 fish weighed in. The winners were: 1st place Mike Norris 6.80 lbs, 2nd place Dennis Durham 5.40 lbs, 3rd place Paula Lee 5.15 lbs and 4th place Debbie Harrill 4.80 lbs. Congrats go out to all the winners!!!

Board Member Elections

 Election time is soon approaching and its time to consider if you want to run for any Board Member positions. At our "End of The Year Party" (November 14th) we will be electing Board Members for next year. Anyone interested in running needs to contact a Board Member to get their name on the ballot no later than November 7th. Board Member positions consist of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Election results will take effect on January 1, 2010 and will be announced at the "End of The Year Party". Please take time to consider running for one of these positions.

4th Flounder Points Tournament

 Our 4th Flounder Points Tournament will be held on September 26th. Registration is on Friday, September 25th at the "Harbor Masters" (315 Canal Drive, Carolina Beach) from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Fishing will be from sunrise until 3:00 pm. Weigh-in will be at "Freddie's Yacht Yard" (400 block of Canal Drive) from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Must be in line no later than 3:00 pm. There was alot of movement in the points for the year in the last tournament, so lets have a large turnout and alot of fish weighed in to keep pressure on the top ten for the year!! This has always been one of our best tournaments as far as big fish for the year in the past. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

 We had a total of 56 entries with 29 fish weighed in. The winners were: 1st Place "Dave Benson" 5.15 lbs, 2nd Place "Mike Norris" 4.80 lbs, 3rd Place "Ken Pearson" 4.45 Lbs and 4th Place "Lisa Livingston" 4.15 Lbs. Congrats to all the winners!! It was a very tuff day of fishing with all the wind, rain and low tides. (This is the weather usually for the Lady Angler Tournaments!)

Lady Angler Tournament

 Our annual Lady Angler Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 with registration on Friday, September 11th at the Garage Mahal (511 Clarendon Ave, Carolina Beach). Registration will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. We will have a shrimparoo, live entertainment and a captains meeting after the registration. This is a club social event and all members are invited. So bring the family and join in the fun.

 Just to let everyone know about the format for the tournament. Entry fee is $25.00 per angler, with prizes awarded to the largest fish in the following categories; King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Speckle Trout, Drum and Flounder. Only 1 award per angler and the entry fee qualifies you for all 5 categories. Also Ladies the "Charms" are back for the 1st place winners. Guys may run the boat, catch bait, gaff or net the Ladies fish and above all be a "Gentlemen" all day. Lady anglers should put out lines, set the hook and catch eligible fish to qualify.

 Maybe this will be the year we will finally have a King Mackerel entered. No King Mackerel have been entered in the last 10 years at least. Our sales and marketing group have come up with another special "T-Shirt" for this tournament and they will be on sale during the registration on Friday. Above all this is a fun tournament and everyone have a good time!!! I look forward to seeing everyone there. For all the Guys that want to participate but don't have any "Lady Anglers" let us know because we have a few Ladies that need a boat to fish on.

 We had a total of 47 entries (new club record) with 38 fish weighed in. We were blessed with great weather for a change. The winners were: 1st place Flounder, Jessica Wrenn 6.85 Lbs, 1st place King Mackerel, Donna Gurganus 11.50 Lbs, 1st place Spanish Mackerel, Savannah Batson 4.10 Lbs, 1st place Speckle Trout, Donna Hersh 2.15 Lbs and 1st place Red Drum, Stephanie Brown 7.70 Lbs.

 A big thank you goes out to Vick & Lisa Matthis and John Batson for the great job they did at the "Shrimparoo" on friday night. Also, a big thank you goes out to all the volunteers that helped make the weekend a success. It makes me proud to be associated with such a great group of people!!
